CoWorkers With God

coworkers with god

"I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building." - Paul of Tarsus, 1 Cor 3:6-9 Paul is telling the Corinthians to be careful not to follow or exalt those who had led them to the Lord but know that it was the Lord who worked with them to bring it to pass.

On the flip side of this, we are all called to make disciples and lead the lost to Christ. Have you ever stopped for a moment to think about what a blessing it is to be co-workers with God? Who is God that He would allow me to work with Him? He has need of nothing and yet He desires us to do this great work with Him. He is all powerful, yet He limits Himself to allow us to partake in the work. He is the perfect parent. We see glimpses of that type of parent in the mom who could cook dinner much better and much quicker, yet she allows her children to take twice as long and make twice as much of a mess so they can be included and grow and learn to cook. Or the father who, while fixing the car, could focus much better with a clip on light that never moves, but instead He allows his child to stand and hold the flashlight everywhere but on the spot He really needs to see just so his child can spend time with him and hopefully learn to do some thing on their own. God is doing this great work and He has called me over to help Him. He has called you over to help Him. Does He need our help, no. Does He want it, yes! He actually wants us to do this with Him. Is not the very call to ministry a great display of love? Emmanuel! God is with us, because that is where HE wants to be. "Let us walk worthy of the calling..." it's the only reasonable response we could give back to Him.

1 John 3:1 "See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!"
