Determined by the One who created us, our purpose in life is to build and glorify God and His Kingdom. These are obtained through Christ alone, God's choice through which salvation has come. For whatever purpose He chose to become one of us and die in our place, (and I suspect it was His great mysterious love) it was His choice entirely. Our purpose in life is the same, to glorify God, but don't confuse our purpose with God's plan for each of us. Our purpose is the reason we exist. His plan for us is the way He will see it fulfilled. God's plan for how each of us will fulfill our purpose is intricately different (being one body yet made of many members and varying gifts) and so life comes with many turns and twists and yet believers ultimately reach the same destiny. That is to have poured our lives out bringing Him glory, shining the light of His Son from within us into a dark and lost world, and redeeming through our testimony to His goodness. We are the evidence of God that the world must see. We enter in and exit out of situations and relationships all throughout our lives for good reason. Even the unpleasant things and mistakes are turned and used for good for those who love the Lord. What then have we to fear, who have pure hearts and clean hands? Even in our weaknesses and sorrows, God's power makes us strong. Every turn and twist brings us to fulfill our purpose. Follow without fear for God is able. He will accomplish the work He has begun in you and in me. He will bring us to completion. And in everything we do not know, we can be at peace and rest, needing not to know the end but only the One who will surely bring us to it.
