Natural Deterrent for Eastern Grey Squirrels

If you have struggled with those pesky squirrels rip[ping up all your hard work this spring here is a quick tip for keeping them at bay. Mix 3 tablespoons of cayenne pepper, and a 1/2 teaspoon of dish soap in a gallon sized watering can and fill the can with water. Mix well and pour over the plants you want to protect. Do this just before the sun comes out so the mixture will dry onto the leaves and repeat as needed, maybe every three weeks. You can also sprinkle cayenne or Habanero seeds around the plants since squirrels hate any kind of spicy hot fragrance and flavor. You can also purchase deer, rabbit and squirrel repellent that is mixed in the same manner and poured over the plants. Hopefully this will protect your plants until they get some growth to them. Once they are larger you will probably not have as much trouble with the squirrels since they like to chew on the tiny sprouts from the seeds, but lose interest as the plants grow larger.
